HONEY’S HANDOG! Manila Seniors, Doble Na Monthly Allowance

Doble na ang makukuhang monthly allowance ng mga senior citizen ng lungsod ng Maynila matapos pirmahan ni Mayor Honey Lacuna ang Ordinance 9081. Simula Enero 2025, magiging P1,000 kada buwan ang cash benefit ng mga senior citizen ng lungsod.

Ang unang payout ay sa Marso 2025 dahil quarterly ang disbusements ng benefit na ito.

Ayon kay Lacuna, ang hakbang na ito ay tugon sa paulit-ulit na kahilingan ng mga lolo at lola ng lungsod para sa mas mataas na allowance.

“Our grandfathers and grandmothers do not fail in asking for a hike in their allowance. Now, we have doubled it,” aniya.

Ang kasalukuyang cash benefit ng mga senior citizen ng Maynila ay P500 kada buwan o P2,000 kada quarterly payout. 

Kasama sa paglagda ng ordinansa ang mga konsehal na sina Philip Lacuna, Fa Fugoso, Uno Lim, Nino Dela Cruz, Jong Isip, Rod Lacsamana, Maile Atienza, Macky Lacson, Lei Lacuna, Charry Ortega, at Marjun Isidro, pati na rin ang Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs chief na si Eilnor Jacinto at ang Secretary to the Mayor na si Marlon Lacson.

Ayon kay Councilor Lacuna, nakabase ang ordinansa sa state policy na protektahan ang karapatan ng mga nakatatanda, ayon na rin sa probisyon ng 1987 Philippine Constitution at Local Government Code. Layunin ng bagong allowance na masiguro ang access ng mga nakatatanda sa de-kalidad na serbisyong pangkalusugan at mga pangunahing pangangailangan.

“Hence, in pursuit of the above mandate, the increase of the monthly monetary allowance of senior citizens from the current P500 to P1,000 is imperative and it is thus a significant support to our senior citizens to enable them to have access to the best quality of health care services, as well as necessary medicines and essential goods,” saad ng mga namumuno sa lungsod.

Ang nasabing bagong allowance rate ay pantay sa social pension na binibigay ng national government para sa mga indigents sa tulong ng Department of Social Welfare and Development.
