Presidential aspirant and Incumbent Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso, on Wednesday, October 13, denied allegations that he is President Rodrigo Duterte’s secret presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.
The issue came out after Moreno made a statement about Martial Law that created a heated tussle between him and Vice President Leni Robredo. This was further aggravated by his position on joint oil explorations with China in the West Philippine Sea which is similar to President Duterte’s decision. These statements led netizens to believe that he is the president’s secret candidate.
In the “Kapihan sa Manila Bay News Forum” interview, when asked about the allegation, he firmly stated that the current administration candidate is technically “Bato-Go”.
“I am [an] Aksyon candidate under the Aksyon party. I am not a candidate of the [Dutertes] because I disagree with them. Remember that? I agree only with Duterte kapag [kapakinabagan] ng taong bayan,” Moreno stated.
However, despite denying that he is under President Duterte, he admitted, “I can work with anyone. It’s very clear. I did not run against one person. I decided to run to offer my services in my own little way, my experience in managing things and how to work with everyone, with anybody.”
Isko Moreno is vying for a Presidential bid together with Doc Willie Ong as his running-mate under Aksyon Demokratiko.
