MANILA – Most parts of the archipelago will experience isolated rain showers on Christmas Eve, the weather bureau said on Friday.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are likely over Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands and Davao Oriental due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting southeastern Mindanao.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to heavy rains.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon.
The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds, and slight to moderate seas will prevail over the entire country.
Meanwhile, PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has already dissipated on Thursday.
“At present, there is no weather disturbance that may affect the country,” she said.
