Kulang Na Kulang! Tulfo Pinapataasan Ang Allowance Ng Mga Sundalo, Pulis

Naghain ng Senate Joint Resolution No. 2 si Senador Raffy Tulfo na naglalayong mapataas ang subsistence allowance ng lahat ng mga pulis at sundalo. 

Mula P150, gustong niya itong pataasin hanggang P250 kada araw. Ayon kay Tulfo, ang P150 kada araw, o P4,500 kada buwan, ay hindi sapat bilang suporta sa kabuhayan ng pamilya ng mga sundalo at pulis. 

Matatandaan na binatikos niya ang kakarampot na subsistence allowance sa nakaraang pagdinig ng budget ng Senado para sa Department of National Defense (DND) noong Setyembre 2022. 

Tinitipid umano ng mga pulis at sundalo ang P150 kada araw para sa almusal, tanghalian, at hapunan. At hindi raw ito sapat na halaga para makabili ng disenteng burger. 

Dagdag pa ng mambabatas, base sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), ang buwanang halaga ng pamumuhay ay dapat nasa P44,000 kada buwan para sa disenteng pamumuhay.

“It is high time that we recognize and honor the very vital roles played by our soldiers and policemen by looking after their welfare and providing them with decent and adequate compensation as well as reasonable and substantial benefits,” saad niya sa joint resolution.

Sinabi rin ng senador na dapat magpahayag at agad na maglabas ng mga guidelines at regulasyon na kinakailangan upang maipatupad ang mga probisyon ng joint resolution  

ang DND sa pakikipag-ugnayan nito sa Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, at Department of Interior and Local Government.  

Gayundin ang national government na dapat maglaan taun-taon at isama sa General Appropriate Act ang halaga na tumutugma sa kabuuang halaga ng pagtaas sa subsistence allowance.
