Manila Vice Mayor and mayoral candidate Honey Lacuna-Pangan set to become the first woman to become the mayor of the nation’s capital.
Lacuna-Pangan, who is a medical doctor, was hoping to become the first woman to become a mayor in Manila’s 450 years of history.
According to Lacuna-Pangan, she would be the first woman to become the mayor in her family if she wins the mayoral race. She also added that she will break the stigma that a Lacuna is fitted only for the vice mayor position.
“lyong sinasabi nila na ang apelyidong Lacuna ay hanggang pang Vice Mayor lang, sa pagkakataon na ito, babasagin ko po iyon.” Lacuna-Pangan said.
In the Manila mayoral race, she will face candidates like Alex Lopez, Cristina Lim-Raymundo, and Amado Bagatsing that came from a different political clans. The other two candidates are Onofre Abad, independent, and Elmer Jamias of the People’s Reform Party.
Meanwhile, Lacuna-Pangan’s running mate, Yul Nieto, will face Raymond Bagatsing, Lucy Lapinig of Partido Para Sa Demokratikong Reporma, and Arwin Reyes who is an independent candidate.
