MALAMPAYA SCANDAL! Hontiveros: ‘Mataas Na Opisyal’ Nasa Likod Ng Kontrobersyal Na Bentahan

Hinimok ni Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros na mas marami pang matataas na opisyal sa gobyerno ang managot sa kontrobersyal na pagbebenta ng shares ng Malampaya gas project sa negosyanteng si Dennis Uy.

Ginawa niya ang pahayag matapos mahanapan ng probable cause ng Ombudsman si dating Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi at 11 na opisyal ng Department of Energy (DOE) para sampahan ng kaso kaugnay ng umano’y “pinadaling” pagbebenta ng 45 percent stake ng Chevron sa Malampaya kay Uy noong 2020.

Ayon kay Hontiveros, bagama’t welcome development ang pagkakaso kay Cusi at iba pang opisyal, naniniwala syang may mga taong nasa mas matataas na posisyon ang posibleng may kinalaman pa rin dito 

Sa pagbili ng Chevron shares ni Uy noong 2020, sinundan pa ito ng acquisition niya sa Shell’s 45 percent stake noong 2022. Dahil dito, 10 percent na lang ng Malampaya gas project ang hawak ng gobyerno sa pamamagitan ng Philippine National Oil Company – Exploration Corporation.

Pinuna rin ni Hontiveros ang 2021 Murang Kuryente Act, na dapat sana’y magpapababa ng singil sa kuryente gamit ang Malampaya funds.

Tanong niya: “While PSALM (Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation) may have benefited from an annual P8-billion appropriation, did this translate to lower electricity costs for consumers?”

Iginiit ni Hontiveros na ang Malampaya deal ay malinaw na may sabwatan sa mataas na antas ng gobyerno, at dapat papanagutin ang lahat ng sangkot sa “misuse of public resources.”
