The city government of Manila will extend financial aid to about 600 families who lost their homes during a fire incident in Parola Compound, Tondo over the weekend.
Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso approved on Monday a PHP10,000 financial aid for each family who lost their house because of the fire.
During the regular flag-raising ceremony held on Monday in Lawton, Domagoso said the city government would help the victims rebuild their houses.
“Nalulungkot tayo sapagkat may limang nasawi sa malaking sunog na naganap na naman sa Parola. Umasa kayo mga taga Parola na ilang araw mula ngayon ay pipilitin natin na makabalik kayo agad sa inyong mga tahanan na tinupok ng apoy (We are saddened that five residents died in the big fire that razed Parola. You can expect that days from now, we will try to help you return to your own houses destroyed by the fire),” Domagoso said.
According to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started Saturday night. It was declared fire out at 6:11 a.m. Sunday.
Around 300 houses, mostly made of light materials, were destroyed by the fire, according to the BFP.
