Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. said he is ready to face the disqualification case filed against him once he receives the official copy of the petition in a radio interview of RMN Palawan on Wednesday, November 3.
“Siguro kasama na rin ‘yan sa pagpolitika lalo na ‘yong aming mga kalaban, imbes na humarap sa eleksyon. Kasi siguro natatakot sila sa numero, idi-disqualify na lang ako,” he said in a radio interview.
Marcos and his camp also said that they will respond to the disqualification case once they receive the official copy of the complaint.
“We shall address this predictable nuisance petition at the proper time and forum. Until then, we will refrain from commenting on their propaganda. Our camp does not engage in gutter politics,” Attorney Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ Spokesperson said in a statement.
A petition for Marcos to cancel his certificate of candidacy (COC) was filed by political detainees and human rights groups before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on Tuesday in relation to his tax evasion conviction in 1995.
According to the petitioners, the Presidential aspirant is not qualified to run for public office due to his conviction in the Quezon City court for failing to file income tax returns in 1995.
They also claimed that Marcos’ COC “contains multiple false material representations.”
However, Marcos remained firm in his presidential bid for the 2022 elections.
“Hindi ako natatakot, hindi ako aatras. Hindi ako mag-withdraw. Patuloy ang lahat ng aking gagawin. Hindi ako mag-slide down,” Marcos said.
