President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday assured former congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. that there is no threat to his life and he can safely return to the Philippines to face the charges against him.
Teves, the alleged mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo along with several others, was arrested in Timor-Leste last month.
“Sa lahat ng mga sinasabi ni Teves, na takot siya sa buhay niya, wala kaming report na ganun. Walang nagbabanta sa buhay niya (We have not received any report regarding the claims of Teves about the threat on his life. There’s no threat to his life),” Marcos told reporters in an interview, adding that the proceedings on his charges will be fair.
Teves is currently under the custody of the Timorese police while his extradition to the Philippines is being worked out by authorities between the two countries. (PNA)
