Some 5,000 job order and contractual workers of the city government of Taguig will receive a gratuity pay of up to PHP3,000, Mayor Lino Cayetano said on Monday.
Citing the workers’ role in the implementation of the city’s programs and projects in 2020, when the pandemic began, Cayetano thanked them for their effort in making Taguig City among the cities with the lowest number of active coronavirus cases nationwide.
The gratuity pay was granted to the workers based on their length of service in the city.
Workers who rendered service for two months to less than three months get PHP1,000; PHP2,000 for three months or more; and PHP3,000 for four months or more.
Job order and contractual workers do not enjoy the same benefits and incentives that regular employees get.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has cited Taguig City as a “model city” in terms of cooperation, unity, and execution while developing effective programs in combating the coronavirus.
In March 2020, the city distributed Covid-19 hazard pay to all employees who reported to work while the enhanced community quarantine was in full implementation. (PNA)
