As the Pasig City government ramps up efforts to address the spike of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the area, Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday said they are in need of more healthcare professionals.

Sotto said the local government is hiring 65 nurses, 35 medical doctors, and two medical technologists to work for the expansion of the centralized quarantine facility in Pasig.

“Kailangan natin ng karagdagang contact tracers at staff sa centralized quarantine facility para mapakalas ang aksyon natin laban sa Covid-19 (We need more contact tracers and staff at the centralized quarantine facility to strengthen our action against Covid-19),” he said in a Facebook post.

Sotto added that the City Health Department is also in need of additional 60 nurses or medical technologists who will work as contact tracers.

“We are accepting applications for the healthcare staff who could fit in contact tracing, preferably Pasig residents. We are also accepting applicants from other places because we need more workforces for contact tracing,” he said, assuring that they will be compensated for their services.

Sotto urged interested healthcare professionals to send their applications through email via [email protected].

“If you are a healthcare staff that is willing to help in the fight against Covid-19, specifically here in Pasig, we will gladly welcome you. We really need you,” he added, noting that the arrangement for hiring healthcare workers is “contract of service.”

Sotto said the local government is working on the recalibration of protocols against the health crisis, where “many adjustments are being made to cope with the spike of coronavirus cases.”

“Marami kaming ginagawang adjustment sa sistema at protocols para mapabilis ang pag responde natin, lalo na ngayon na nag-spike ang bilang ng mga positibo sa lungsod at sa rehiyon (We are making several adjustments to the systems and protocols to hasten our response on Covid-19, especially that the positive cases in the city and in the region have spiked),” he said.

Sotto said the city targets to increase its healthcare capacity to treat Covid-19 patients. (PNA)
