‘MGA ABUSADO’! Rep. Acidre Bumanat Sa Mapagsamantalang Chinese Diplomats

Nagngingitngit si House Deputy Majority Leader at Tingog Partylist Representative Jude Acidre dahil sa umano’y pananamantala ng ilang foreign diplomats partikular ang ilang Chinese diplomats dahil sa pang-a-agrabyado ng mga ito sa mga Pinoy sa bansa.

Sa nakaraang hearing ng House of the Representatives, mariing sinabi niya na nagiging abusado na raw sa kanilang immunity ang mga dayuhang diplomats sa bansa matapos kumalat ang umano’y “transcripts and recordings” ng isang opisyal ng militar ng bansa at ng isang Chinese diplomat tungkol sa Ayungin Shoal.

Ang paglabas ng nasabing transcripts at recordings ay nagpapakita na wiretapping ang ginawa ng Chinese diplomats para maungusan ang bansa sa isyu ng pagmamay-ari ng West Philippine Sea (WPS) ayon kay Acidre.

“If it can be established that this Chinese diplomat has wiretapped or made a recording of phone conversations and leaked these documents, then they must be held accountable under our laws.”

Hirit pa ng mambabatas, hindi na lamang ito bagong taktika para makuha ang WPS ngunit isa na ring umano’y pang-aabuso sa mabuting pakikitungo ng mga Pilipino sa mga dayuhan sa bansa.

“I think it’s only reasonable that people who abuse our hospitality and abuse the privileges that are accorded in goodwill should also be sent home,” saad niya.

Paliwanag pa ni Acidre, kahit na sila ay diplomat sa bansa, marapat pa ring magpakita sila ng respeto dahil bisita pa rin sila sa ating teritoryo. “To make it simple, diplomats are guests of our country. While they have their own privileges and immunity, it still boils down to the reality that they are guests of the receiving country.”

Dahil dito, sinuportahan niya ang dating pahayag ni Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla na palawigin ang imbestigasyon sa mga maaring ilegal na gawain ng ilang mga foreign diplomats sa bansa.

“In fact, they cannot exercise any of those diplomatic immunities until they are officially received by the host state. So, I think we cannot argue against that and in that light, we are supporting the statement of the Justice Secretary in that regard.”
