Malacañang on Saturday expressed confidence that the delivery of more coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines to the country would fast-track the inoculation of minors.
In a Facebook post, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque welcomed the arrival of about 1,014,390 doses of procured Pfizer vaccine in the country.
Roque said the procurement of additional vaccines would help boost the government’s vaccination drive.
Ito ay para mas mapabilis ang pagbabakuna sa ating mga kabataan (This will hasten the vaccination of our minors),” he said.
Manila is expected to receive about 813,150 doses of the 1,014,390 Pfizer vaccine doses procured by the government.
Cebu and Davao, on the other hand, will get 100,620 Pfizer doses each.
Roque reiterated his call to the public to get vaccinated to protect themselves against Covid-19.
Halina’t magpabakuna (Let’s get vaccinated),” he said, as he viewed as “good news” the arrival of more Covid-19 vaccines in the country.
The Philippines has expanded its vaccination rollout to minors.
A total of 1,153 individuals less than 18 years old have been vaccinated during the pilot pediatric vaccination conducted in eight hospitals in Metro Manila on October 15.
The government started the inoculation of minors using Pfizer, one of the two jabs approved by the Food and Drug Administration for children aged 12 to 17 years old.
The second phase of vaccination of children with co-morbidities aged 12 to 17 began Friday in more than 20 hospitals and inoculation sites in Metro Manila. (PNA)
