Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas, an active nationwide volunteer group for Manila mayor and presidential aspirant Isko Moreno, recently announced their switch of support to opponent Leni Robredo for the May 9 elections.

In their manifesto declaring the decision, the group shared that although they believe Moreno has the necessary qualities to lead the nation, they are throwing their support to Robredo to prevent current frontrunner Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos’ victory.

The group’s manifesto also appealed to Moreno to withdraw from the presidential race, in a display of unity against Marcos and to further aid in Robredo’s bid for the presidency.

Additionally, Secretary-General Elmer Argano stated in a release that he would like the rest of the organization and its local chapters to follow suit in defecting to the Robredo camp.

“I am hopeful that the rest of the IM organization will join us in the growing battle of the Filipino people, led by VP Leni, against Marcos Jr.,” Argano said.

The group also adopted the name IM Leni to reflect the switch.

The latest Pulse Asia polls estimated Marcos’ voter preference rating at 56%, with Robredo at second with 24%. Moreno trailed behind both with a rating of 8%.
