Rizal 4th District Representative Fidel Nograles criticized the recent spate of crimes that have made headlines, the most recent of which saw the murder of four persons in his district in Montalban in Rizal province.

He urged authorities to “exert greater effort to deter crime.”

“Nananawagan tayo sa kapulisan na gawin ang makakaya para maiwasan ang krimen. We are seeing cases of crime being conducted in broad daylight. The police must put a stop to such brazen disregard of the law by criminals,” Nograles said.

Four people — two men and two women — had been discovered dead in a vehicle in Balagbag, Brgy. San Isidro in Montalban on Monday morning.

In the meantime, on Sunday, three persons were fatally shot in Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City by an unidentified suspect.

Armed men had also kidnapped a man from a gas station in Taal, Batangas province. Later, his body was discovered in Quezon province.

The lawmaker said he is looking forward to hear how the Philippine National Police intends to carry out its duty of guaranteeing the safety of the people.

He urged the law enforcement to “be more visible,” and to patrol continuously.

Nograles added that the PNP should continually strive to increase accessibility to emergency hotlines and shorten the time it takes to respond to emergencies.

“Our people have to be reassured that the police is on top of things. Alam nating nasa ‘honeymoon stage’ pa ang mga bagong lider, pero hindi naghihintay ang mga kriminal,” he said.

“Huwag po nating hayaan na manaig ang takot sa mga kababayan natin na hindi sila ligtas. Ipanatag po natin ang loob nila,” Nograles stressed.
