La Union Governor Rafy Ortega-David recently met with the youth leaders of the province where she emphasized their importance to the development of the country.

“Nagkaroon tayo ng chance na makasama at makausap ang mga youth leaders mula sa first district ng probinsya kahapon (September 1, 2022) para sa Live to Lead event! I think that we are the generation that can power this nation,” she announced in a Facebook post.

According to Ortega-David, collaborating with young people can result in innovative ideas that are original and creative, which is helpful in realizing the plans, projects, and programs of the provincial government.

She continued, “I look forward to more activities that ignite the youth and their passion for serving the people.”

In a separate statement, the Public Information Office (PIO) of La Union Provincial Government said the Live to Lead seminar aims to promote youth leaders’ advocacy for a sustainable environment and revolutionary government.

It was stressed that the three-day activity, which was part of the Ortega-David‘s P.U.S.O. Agenda, provided the 18 participants with invaluable knowledge and insights through a jam-packed lecture and training focused on youth development service providers, adolescent health and development, youth environmental outreach, and youth environmental approach.

The role of youth development officers in youth development, interpersonal communication and counseling on gender and development, teenage pregnancy and sexuality, human environment transformation, water quality management, coastal resource management, responsible mining, and more were among the timely topics discussed, according to the PIO.

The PIO added that the program culminated with significant environmental initiatives, including as mangrove planting in Barangay Pila, Luna, coastal cleanup and study tours at DMMMSU-FRTI, and ecotours that include snorkeling, sea gardens, and lagoons on Immuki Island in Balaoan.

“With the strength of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, the PGLU remains committed for relentless service through developing relevant programs and projects that will create opportunities and illuminate a promising future to every youth in the province which is imperative in the continuous building of a #StrongerLaUnion, a province worth living in,” it highlighted.
