A video of presidential candidate Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao where he promises to escalate the war on illegal drugs by focusing on drug manufacturers and pushers continues to go viral online, following the latest Commission on Elections debate.

In the interview clip circulated by an SMNI journalist, Pacquiao states, “Ngayon ‘pag ako ang nanalo, humanda kayo. Hindi ko papatayin ‘yung mga users, kawawa naman ‘yung mga mahihirap. Kayong mga manufacturers at kayong mga pushers diyan, kayo ang dahilan. Maniwala kayo sa akin (If I win, you better be ready I will not kill [drug] users, they are poor and pitiful. You manufacturers and pushers, you are the problem)”.

This, after Pacquiao pledged that if he were president, his administration would respect due process in the war on drugs during the debate.

In response, the presidentiable urged voters to look at his track record in fulfilling campaign promises.

Yan pong sinasabi ko pabahay, free education hindi po yan pangako, ginagawa ko na yan bago ko pinangako kayo puro pangako pangako pangako tapos wala naman kayo ginagawa ilang eleksyon na lumipas. Bakit pangako kayo ng pangako lalo namang naghihirap ang bansa natin kasi nagnanakaw kayo sa ating bansa (When I speak of housing, free education, that is not a promise, I have undertaken it before I promise. Some [candidates] make promises that they did not fulfill, it only makes the country poorer),” he shared.

As of writing, the video has gained more than 6,300 shares and more than 147,000 engagements.
