Pangasinan 4th District Representative, Chair Committee on Creative Industry & Performing Arts and House deputy majority leader Christopher De Venecia, has linked up with the League of Cities of The Philippines to launch the Philippine Creative Cities Network (PCCN).

PCCN aims to support and facilitate employment of workers in the creative industry who are still recovering from job loss due to the ongoing pandemic. De Venecia urges workers in the industry like cameramen, production assistants, musicians, artists, writers, dancers to “get vaccinated sooner rather than later.”

“Mobility is crucial to faster transition to the new normal. The coronavirus and other viruses will not adjust to us people. It is us who must adapt by getting vaccinated and following all the safety protocols,” The House deputy majority leader said.

In his statement, he praised Mayor Lani Mercado of Bacoor City for competing for the UNESCO Creative City for Music designation, being the country’s marching band capital and Mayor Jerry Trenas of Iloilo City for vying for the title Creative City for Gastronomy designation.

De Venecia said “Kaya naman ni Mayor Lani and Mayor Jerry, good luck po sa inyo! This November, malalaman na natin kung sila na nga ang mga susunod na creative cities ng ating bansa. Hopefully through this new network, we will be able to send more applications to this prestigious global grid of creative and beautiful cities,”

“Our dear mayors, this is an exciting time for our cities! Through this Philippine Creative Cities Network, we can share even more ideas and improve on our initial suggestions. Let’s work together and let’s all collaborate for a more creative Philippines,” Chair Committee on Creative Industry & Performing Arts ended. Hopefully through the help of the new network, the creative industry can soon recover.
