The Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI) on Wednesday declared its full support for the 11 senatorial candidates of the administration’s Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas for the 2025 elections.
The move came after Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, whose party Lakas-CMD has also committed to delivering victory to all Alyansa candidates, met with some 40 party-list lawmakers in a luncheon meeting hosted by the PCFI.
During the luncheon meeting, Romualdez appealed to the PCFI members to give their full backing to the 11 senatorial candidates of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Talino at Galing ng Pinoy (TGP) Party-list Rep. Jose Teves Jr. and Barangay Health Workers Party-list Rep. Angelica Natasha Co, PCFI vice president and secretary general, respectively, said their bloc’s solid support to the Alyansa slate is “a necessary and strategic show of unity” to ensure that the next Senate will be able to meaningfully collaborate with President Marcos’ administration.
“We are backing candidates who share the same legislative priorities, the same aspirations for a more progressive, more stable and more inclusive Philippines,” Teves said.
He said Alyansa’s strength lies in its diversity and collective readiness to support President Marcos’ Bagong Pilipinas reform agenda.
“These are not unfamiliar names to us. They are tried and tested public servants who know how to get the job done, especially in the Senate where deliberation and policy depth are critical,” he said.
Meanwhile, Co said the coalition responded decisively because it believes in the vision of the Marcos administration and the need for a Senate that will not obstruct progress but instead enable it.
“Ang pagkakaisa sa layunin at direksyon ay mahalaga sa tagumpay ng Bagong Pilipinas. Kailangan natin ng mga senador na makakaagapay sa pamahalaan, hindi ang mga pipigil sa pagbabago (Unity in purpose and direction is important for the success of the New Philippines. We need senators who can help the administration, not those who hinder change),” she said.
“Political dynamics may shift, but our support remains fixed on candidates who continue to walk with us in our pursuit of genuine development and inclusive progress. These (Alyansa) are individuals with long records of public service, competence in governance and commitment to reform under the Bagong Pilipinas campaign of the President.”
The senatorial candidates under the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition are former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; incumbent Senators Ramon Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid and Francis Tolentino; former senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao and Vicente Sotto III; and House lawmakers Erwin Tulfo and Camille Villar.
Meanwhile, Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co, the PCFI chair, said the coalition intends to campaign actively for the Alyansa candidates, maximizing their reach at the community level where the party-list system draws its strength.
“Mula sa barangay hanggang sa mga rehiyon, ipaparating namin sa mga tao kung bakit mahalaga ang mga kandidatong ito sa kinabukasan ng bansa (From the barangay up to the regional level, we will tell the people why these candidates are important for the country’s future),” he said.
“If we want reforms to be felt, we need partners in the upper chamber who will push with us, not pull us back. Strong leadership in the Senate complements strong leadership in Malacañang.” (PNA)
