The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday reminded all political parties to submit their annual Sworn Information Update Statement (SIUS).

According to the poll body, all registered party-list groups including political parties or coalition of political parties are required to submit their SIUS every August 15 to the Campaign Finance Office (CFO).

“The Commission en banc resolved to set the deadline of the submission of the SIUS on August 15 of every year, as required from all registered political parties and organizations, to include party-list groups and organizations registered under Republic Act No. 7941 (Party List. System Act),” it said in a statement.

Among the information stated in the document include the full name of the political party, party-list organization, or coalition of political parties with an acronym; their principal headquarters and postal office address, including its branches and divisions, if any; and the date of registration and constituency.

Also indicated are the list of current officers, respective positions, and their sex; as well as a list of elected members in the immediately preceding national and local elections, their respective elective positions, and their sex.

On the other hand, Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco warned those who fail to submit their SIUS may face the risk of their registration being cancelled.

“Failure to comply with said requirement shall constitute prima facie evidence that the political party, party-list, or coalition of political parties concerned already ceased to exist, and shall be a cause for the cancellation of the party’s and coalition’s registration after due notice and hearing,” he said in a separate interview. (PNA)
