Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang paglunsad ng Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) na may temang “Better Bodies and Minds” kung saan idiniin ang kahalagahan ng mabuting nutrisyon sa mga Pilipino at pag-unlad ng bansa.

Ayon sa Presidential Communications Office, ang proyekto ay naglalayong magbigay ng serbisyo sa mga lokal na pamahalaan na nangangailangan ng interbensyon sa pamamagitan ng primary healthcare support at serbisyo sa nutrisyon, kabilang ang mga early childhood care at development service, kasama ang access sa malinis na tubig at sanitation, technical information, training at financing.

Dagdag ni Marcos, ang nutrition project ay isang strategic na interbensyon ng gobyerno na may “multi-sectoral community participatory approach.”

Ipinangako rin niya sa paglulunsad ng proyekto na patuloy ang investment sa 110 milyong populasyon ng bansa na itinuturing na main drivers ng ekonomiya.

“This is the reason why this Administration has put a high priority and considered it of strategic importance that lies in the areas of food security, health care, and education, amongst others,” pahayag ng pangulo kung saan binanggit niya ang dahilan kung bakit niya ginagampanan ang papel ng Secretary of Agriculture.

“Sometimes we do not think about it and therefore do not often realize it, but lodged at the very core of all this is the aspect of good nutrition for our people. On the one hand, we have acknowledged the harrowing state of affairs that hunger and food inadequacy continue to be of paramount national, and for that matter, international concerns,” aniya.

Ang PMNP, ang apat na taong proyekto na pinangunahan ng Department of Health at Department of Social Welfare and Development ay para sa multi-sectoral approach para maabot ang interbensyon sa nutrisyon sa mga lokal na pamahalaan.

Nanawagan rin si Marcos sa Health department na makipag-ugnayan sa iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno para sa pagpapatupad ng angkop na diet at polisiya sa nutrisyon.

“As the country continues to face persistent threats of hunger and malnutrition, rest assured that this Administration is working conscientiously to find effective and cross-cutting solutions to address these and other paramount social problems and concerns,” aniya.
