Outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte has not yet named his presidential bet for the coming May 9 election.

Malacañang reiterated on Wednesday during the press briefing that Duterte’s support will be a game-changer for all candidates because his supporters are anticipating the president’s endorsement.

Martin Andanar, the acting presidential spokesperson, revealed that even he is still waiting for the President’s decision on who to endorse. This is after the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) faction publicly announced the support on the candidacy of Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr through a resolution released on Mach 21.

According to Andanar, “I’m happy for the President that maraming nagtatanong, maraming nag-aabang, kasi nga it’s a game-changer kapag si Presidente ang nag-endorse.” However, Andanar told that he had no idea who among the presidential candidates will get the support of the president.

Meanwhile, the president’s political party PDP-Laban said that endorsing Marcos Jr. came from deliberate discussions, citing that the presidential frontrunner is the most aligned with the party’s 11-point mission.

Martin confirmed that Marcos Jr. and President Duterte has a cordial meeting the day before the party endorse Bongbong’s candidacy. He even told that the president shared his experiences with Bongbong and aim to have a successor that will continue his programs and policies.

Acting spokesperson told reporter when asked if it is Duterte’s Cabinet last meeting, “Palagay ko, hindi pa, tuluy-tuloy si Presidenteng magtatrabaho. Marami pa siyang unfinished business tulad nitong sa NTF-ELCAC, tulad ng ating pagbangon mula sa negative effects ng Covid-19 at iyong pagsiguro na mayroon tayong clean, fair and honest elections this coming May 2022.”
