Presidential aspirant and senator Ping Lacson mentioned in an online interview, that he alone can still take over as the campaign manager for his election activities in the whole campaign period.

He went to the Tarlac and Pangasinan on Monday and Abra and Ilocos on Tuesday to campaign but recently shorten his visit because of the conflict of schedule.

Meanwhile, Lacson was hopeful that he can manage being a campaign manager despite the warning that the worst campaign manager is the candidate himself. “I took over as campaign manager. I was warned the worst campaign manager is the candidate himself. But exigency ang nangyari. Biglaan nawala ang Reporma so we had to act accordingly.” Lacson mentioned in an online interview.

According to Lacson, he has been in contact with his supporters for the schedule after the Partido Reporma last March pulled their support and shifted to Vice President Leni Robredo.

On a brighter side, former police chief Guillermo Eleazar, former Agriculture secretary Manuel Piñol, and Dr. Minguita Padilla still supporting the candidacy of Lacson and remain as the senatoriables of Lacson-Sotto tandem.

Lacson explained that there are someone out there helping him with his campaign especially from his former colleague and officials.

(M)ay nakakatulong ako nariyan (I get help, like), si (former Bureau of Internal Revenue chief) Kim Henares and several other people. Sabi ko (I said) I just want to take a direct hand in the campaign. Siguro kasama na ako siguro sa nagcommit ng lapses. ‘Di ko agad nareview ang itinerary. So ng nakita kong sobrang dikit. Sabi ko teka muna, baka mamatay ako rito.” Lacson said.

He also added back in 2004, he had a wide supporters and also won on the region against the 2004 former presidential candidates Fernando Poe Jr and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The senator is still eager to take the opportunity on garnering supporters from the Northern Luzon.

Nag-No.1 pa ako sa Laoag City. I was running as independent at the time. Pero (But) let’s see. May lugar na unpredictableNagtataka rin ako biglang No. 1 ako sa Senate o ng tumakbo ako (There are unpredictable areas so I was surprised I was on top there when I ran for the Senate and) for the presidency last time. So let’s wait and see for May 9. I know it’s difficult to win given the situation but it is not impossible. That’s what I’m saying,” he said.

Lacson said he was warmly received in Tarlac and Urdaneta cities, among the areas that benefited from legislated changes in share of taxes from tobacco.

That’s why I am coming with dataPati ang kanilang national tax allotment gusto nila kumustahin kasi ‘yan yata ang isang source ng patayan dito (They are also interested in the national tax allotment because that is one source of killings there),” as Lacson stated.
