Hinamon ni Akbayan Partylist Representative Percival Cendaña si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na agad iprayoridad at sertipikahang urgent ang panukalang batas na nagtataas ng minimum wage ng ₱200.

Ito ay matapos aprubahan ng House Committee on Labor and Employment ang isang substitute bill na naglalayong magbigay ng dagdag na sahod sa mga manggagawa. Noong nakaraang linggo, nakipagpulong ang mga lider ng House of Representatives sa iba’t ibang labor groups upang pabilisin ang pagtalakay sa mga nakabinbing wage hike proposals sa Kongreso.

“Tama na ang study-study na ‘yan. Aksyon na ang kailangan! Dami nang research tungkol sa wage hikes saying that they will improve workers’ purchasing power, raise living conditions and strategically increase productivity,” giit ni Cendaña.

“We demand the President exercises decisive political will. Hindi na dapat dinedelay ito dahil nakasalalay dito ang ikinabubuhay ng ating mga mamamayan,” dagdag pa niya.

Sa kabila ng pangamba ng Malacañang na kailangan pa ng karagdagang deliberasyon, iginiit ni Cendaña na matagal nang pinag-aralan ang panukala.

“Further study only means further suffering. The House committee has already deliberated this measure for 8 months. We don’t need to wait for the regional wage boards to conduct another 8 months of study before we increase the minimum wage,” aniya.

Dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng bilihin, muling nanawagan ang mambabatas sa gobyerno na agad ipatupad ang wage hike upang maibsan ang paghihirap ng mga manggagawa.
