Several parts of Roxas Boulevard will be closed to traffic beginning Saturday to make way for the construction of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension Project.
In an advisory on Friday, Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Hernan Cabrera said the southbound portion (going to Manila) of Roxas Boulevard will be closed on Saturday (April 29, 2023) at 10 p.m. until Sunday (April 30, 2023) at 5 a.m.
The northbound portion of the road (going to CAVITEX) will be closed from Tuesday (May 2, 2023) at 10 p.m. until Wednesday (May 3, 2023) at 5 a.m.
The Roxas Boulevard service road near Baclaran Church will be closed beginning Friday (May 5, 2023) at 10 p.m. until Saturday (May 6, 2023) at 5 a.m.
“Affected motorists are advised to take alternate routes,” Cabrera said.
The closure, he said, is necessary for the construction of a pedestrian footbridge that will connect to the Redemptorist Station of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension.
As of March, he said the Cavite Extension project is about 82.7 percent complete, with its phase 1 on schedule to be completed and operating by the final quarter of 2024.
Earlier, the LRTA committed to completing the Cavite Extension before the Marcos administration ends its term in 2028.
Once the first phase is completed, the Light Rail Manila Corporation will proceed with the construction of the final three stations to extend the LRT-1 up to Bacoor, Cavite province. (PNA)
