President Rodrigo Duterte stated in the second part of his pre-recorded Talk to the People, which was aired on Tuesday, January 25, that he will eventually be revealing the “most corrupt” presidential candidates of the 2022 Elections before the May 9 polls.

“In due time, I will personally name the candidates, maybe what is wrong with them. Kailangan malaman ng tao because you are electing a president,” Duterte said, stating that he will be pointing out specifically those who lack the know-how to become his successor.

According to Duterte, his reasons for revealing such information to the public is merely in line with his obligation as a president to inform his people about certain things that could contribute to their decision in choosing which presidential candidate they would be voting for in the upcoming elections.

However, this was not the first time the president had stated such remarks about the presidential aspirants and attempted to expose them.

During early November of last year, he claimed that the leading candidate at the time, in particular, was a cocaine user. He commented that the candidate is a “very weak leader,” claiming that the aspirant is only powerful due to his name.

“I will tell you kung sino iyong pinaka-corrupt na kandidato. Hindi ako namumulitika. I am talking to you as your president. There are things you must know,” the president added, emphasizing that it is his duty as the country’s leader not to lie.

Duterte claimed that he has personal knowledge on the presidential bets, and according to Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, the president “has access to many sources, including intelligence reports.”
