Outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to give a copy of reports to war on drugs critics to enlighten the on the drug problem of the country.
“Itong batikos nang batikos sa gobyerno, I suggest that ‘yung lahat or pati PDEA, if your are listening now, magbigay kayo ng isang report lang siuro PDEA.” This is after Secreatry Educardo Año told to the president that the campaign against illegal drugs seized an amunt of PHP 453, 203, 447 from March 20 to 26 only. Año added that there are about 1, 627 personality arrested in the said operations.
Duterte mentioned that human rights advocates should study the report, citing those organizations who seek the International Criminal Court to investigate and probe his drug campaign. “Kaya maintindihan nila ako kay – eh kay kung pag-aralan mo lang ‘yang distribution na ‘yan umabot dito tonelada, ilang Pilipino sa araw na dumadating, maghithit ng – bibira nang bibira sa shabu. Iyan na lang ang tandaan nila. Kaya minsan nandito kayo sa Pilipinas, ‘di mag-aral kayo.”
President expressed that he is still optimistic about all the critics to understand the gravity of drugs in the country. He even worried about the possible recovery of illegal drugs when his term ends in June.
Since July 2016, there are a total of 24, 202 villages nationwide declared drug-free based on the Real Numbers data listed by the PDEA as of January 31 this year. There are only 11,129 villages that have not yet been cleared of illegal drugs.
For the total, 327,039 drug personalities are arrested and 6,229 died in the 226, 662 operations. 1,008 drug dens and 18 clandestine shabu laboratories have been dismantled together with various tyle of illegal drugs amounting to PHP75.35 billion including PHP63.22 billion worth of shabu have been seized.
