Tinanggap na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang imbitasyon ng PDP-Laban na tumakbo bilang bise presidente ng bansa sa paparating na 2022 elections.

Sa isang pahayag, inilahad ni  PDP-Laban Executive Vice President at Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles na ang desisyong ito ay isang sakripisyo para kay Duterte na itinulak na tumakbo sa susunod na halalan para sa ikalawang pinakamataas na posisyon sa bansa.

Pagdating naman sa presidential candidate, nais ng PDP-Laban na tumakbo si Senator Bong Go bilang kinatawan ng partido.

Noong Hunyo, sinabi ng Pangulo na bukas siya sa pagtakbo sa pagka-bise presidente.

“Running for vice president, ako. Sabihin ko, it is not at all a bad idea. And if there is space for me there . . . Siguro,” ayon sa kanya.

“Pero kung wala ako space, and everybody is crowding up, wanting to be one, vice president, sila na lang muna kasi tapos na ako. But there are things that I like to continue, and that would be dependent on the president that I will support.”

Dagdag niya, maaari rin siyang makatakas sa mga posibleng lawsuit na isasampa laban sa kanya pagkatapos ng kanyang termino bilang presidente.

Sa ngayon, si Vice President Leni Robredo ang nakaupo bilang pangalawang pinakamataas na pinuno ng buong bansa.
