The Philippine National Police (PNP) will file obstruction of justice cases against individuals who aided Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy in evading arrest.

In a press release Sunday, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said a full investigation is being conducted to hold his coddlers accountable.

“We will not tolerate any form of obstruction to justice. Our investigation aims to identify those who knowingly provided refuge to Quiboloy and we will ensure they face appropriate legal consequences,” Marbil said.

Quiboloy, facing child sexual abuse and qualified human trafficking cases, surrendered inside the KOJC compound in Davao City on Sept. 8 after the police gave him a 24-hour ultimatum.

The PNP conducted the operations for 16 days before it finally cornered Quiboloy.

Marbil said Quiboloy could not have eluded his pursuers without the assistance of close associates, including legal representatives who misled authorities regarding his whereabouts.

“Obstruction of justice is a serious offense and those who aided in shielding Quiboloy from law enforcement will be charged accordingly. The law is clear: No one is above it and those who helped Quiboloy will be held accountable,” he said.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group under the leadership of Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco has been tasked to lead the case buildup.

Earlier, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos warned that individuals found harboring Quiboloy would be thoroughly investigated and charged. (PNA)
