‘Saan Napunta Ang Pera?’ Sen. Marcos Accountable Sa 4Ps Budget Cut – Rep. Acidre

Mariing nagpahayag ng kanyang pagkadismaya si Deputy Majority Leader at Tingog Partylist Representative Jude Acidre sa kanyang kapwa mambabatas na si Senador Imee Marcos kaugnay ng pagkaltas sa 2023 budget para sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) na nagkakahalaga ng P13 bilyon.

Matatandaang inamin ni Marcos ang pag-rekomenda na ilipat ang P8 bilyon sa kabuuang pondo ng 4Ps patungo sa iba pang mga programa ng Department of Social Welfare and Development. Ang nasabing hakbang ay nagresulta sa pagkaltas ng suporta sa halos 900,000 pamilya o 4.3 milyong indibidwal mula sa naturang programa.

Ayon kay Acidre, hindi sapat ang pag-amin lamang ni Marcos sa kanyang papel sa realignment ng budget. Dagdag pa niya, “Ang tanong d’yan kung tinanggal ‘yan, I don’t think the accountability of Sen. Marcos is simply by admitting that she was the one who removed that from the budget during the bicam. I think her accountability to her constituents is to also explain to them, ‘where did the money go.

“Because this is not just a simple program, this is not (just) a project of the government. The 4Ps is the law, and as a law, we (as lawmakers) are duty-bound to implement it.”

Sa pagsisiwalat ni Ako Bicol Rep. Jil Bongalon, vice chair ng House Committee on Appropriations, lumitaw na 867,000 pamilya o 4.3 milyong mahihirap ang hindi nakatanggap ng anumang tulong pinansyal mula sa 4Ps noong nakaraang taon dahil sa pagre-rekomenda ni Marcos.

“I understand that Sen. Imee has been realigning significant portions of the 4Ps budget every year since 2021 but we’re still compiling the data,” aniya.
