Mayor Sara Z. Duterte on Wednesday urged the Filipino people to extend their “strongest support” to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s vice presidential bid in the 2022 elections.

This, as Sara reiterated that she will not run for President after her father formally accepted his nomination as the official vice-presidential candidate of the ruling party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), to ensure the “continuity” of his efforts to bring progress to the country.

“We have a good agreement with President Duterte in our respective political careers. Let us give him our strongest support for his decision to run for Vice President,” Mayor Sara said in a video message posted on her official Facebook Page.

On September 9, the presidential daughter confirmed that she is not running for a national position in the 2022 polls.

She said President Duterte’s announcement to run for Vice President has not affected her plans as they both agreed that only one from their family will run for a national position.

Sara thanked the Filipinos who expressed their trust and support for her capability to lead the country.

“That is true, we are united in wanting to see a bright future for our beloved Philippines. I extend my sincere gratitude to the approximately 700 parallel groups who are organizing for me to run for president,” she said.

“It is an honor, that is priceless and not given to all politicians and I will never forget what you do for me. Hopefully, we will continue to help our countrymen even if not for the candidacy or the election.” (PNA)
