Sen. Tolentino Sa DOH: Buhayin Muli Ang Vaccine Info Drive

Hinimok ni Senador Francis N. Tolentino ang Department of Health (DOH) na buhayin muli ang information drive para matugunan ang vaccine hesitancy. 

Tinanong niya ang mga opisyal ng Health department kung bakit wala nang regular daily briefing sa Covid-19 pandemic sa Senate Blue Ribbon Committee tungkol sa diumanong non-disclosure agreement (NDA) sa mga vaccine procurement contract ng gobyerno.

“Parang wala na nag re-report? Kasi dati everyday naririnig natin… Kayo, Ma’am, naririnig namin araw-araw na ito nag bakuna na tayo ngayon sa La Union, ito ngayon sa Kalinga, ito yung infection rate, everyday. Ngayon po ba mayroon po o tinigil niyo na rin?” tanong ni Tolentino kay DOH Officer in Charge Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire.

Ayon sa mambabatas, ang pagbaba ng vaccination rates kamakailan ay maituturo sa hindi maayos na information drive para kumbinsihin ang mga mamamayan na magkaroon ng booster shots sa gitna ng 44 million doses na mga expired Covid-19 vaccine.

“Can you attribute that to the decline now in number of vaccinations being done as well as the perceived vaccination hesitancy among the populace? Ayaw na nila kasi walang sense of urgency na eh. Hindi na kayo nakikita,” aniya.

Iniulat ng Health department sa Senate panel na ang lingguhang Covid-19 vaccination rate ay nasa 46,000 doses bawat linggo. Ito ay mas mababa sa 50.74 million doses na tinatayang mag-eexpire sa susunod na mga buwan.

Dagdag ni Vergeire na ang DOH ay patuloy na nagbibigay ng updates sa kanilang official website tungkol sa Covid-19 pandemic. Ngunit ayon kay Tolentino, makakatulong ang regular public briefing na manghikayat sa mga Pilipino na magpabakuna ng booster shot.

“We enjoin the Department of Health to really be present in the daily discussion on how we can make the people realize that vaccines are still needed,” aniya.
