“Tatakbo akong muli. Hindi ako susuko. Tuloy ang laban,” said Senator Leila M. de Lima who has confirmed that she would seek re-election in 2022.
De Lima has filed more than 500 bills and resolutions since being elected a senator in 2016. Some of the laws she has authored have been legislated into law including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Act, Magna Carta of the Poor Act, Community-Based Monitoring System Act, and the National Commission for Senior Citizens Act.
In 2017, De Lima was arrested for her alleged link to the drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison when she served as Secretary of Justice from 2010 to 2015. But despite being in prison, the senator is one of the dedicated voices of Philippine human rights and justice. In seeking re-election next year, De Lima said she wants to continue fighting for people’s rights and social justice here in the Philippines.
