SINUNGALING? Grupong Bayanihan, Sinoplak ‘Fake News’ Ni Marcoleta

Inanunsyo ng grupong Bayanihan para sa Karangalan at Kaunlaran ng mga Pilipino o BAYANIHAN ang plano nitong magsampa ng ethics complaint laban kay Sagip Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta. 

Kinondena ng grupo ang umano’y maling pahayag ng mambabatas laban sa Commission on Elections (Comelec), at inakusahan siya ng pagtatangkang sirain ang integridad ng election body.

Sa isang press conference kahapon, ibinunyag ni Elmer Argaño, chairman ng BAYANIHAN, na naghahanda na ang grupo na magsampa ng pormal na reklamo sa House Committee on Ethics. “In response to his heinous actions, BAYANIHAN shall be filing an ethics complaint against the seating congressman over his wrong attitude and attempts to weaken the independence and credibility of the Comelec,” aniya.

Binigyang-diin ni Argaño na walang basehan ang mga akusasyon ni Marcoleta na may mga offshore bank account sa Cayman Islands si Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia. “These wrongful actions not only destroy the trust of the public to the democratic processes but also carry a serious threat to the credibility of the forthcoming elections,” aniya.

Bukod sa ethics complaint, plano ng BAYANIHAN na magsampa ng disbarment case laban kay Marcoleta sa Korte Suprema. Nananawagan din ang grupo sa publiko na manatiling mapagbantay laban sa mga disinformation campaign na naglalayong sirain ang mga democratic process ng bansa.

Itinanggi na ni Garcia ang mga akusasyon at humiling ng pormal na imbestigasyon ng National Bureau of Investigation at Anti-Money Laundering Council. Parehong pinabulaanan ng mga bangko sa Cayman Islands at mga lokal na bangko ang pagkakaroon ng mga sinasabing account.
