Vice President Leni Robredo, in her radio program yesterday, supported the call of 12 Senators to investigate the use of troll farms allegedly funded by the government. Robredo said it is not too late to do an investigation as this will prevent them from operating again.

Last year, there have been reports that those who pushed the government to shut the borders from travellers from China were assaulted by trolls, the Vice President added.
She also stressed the need to investigate the spending of government funds for troll farms because taking down fake accounts on social media sites is insufficient and does not resolve the problem of fake news.

Last week, 12 Senators signed a resolution calling for an investigation of the alleged troll farms. Senator Panfilo Lacson previously exposed that an undersecretary is behind two troll farms.

Troll farms have been prevailing since 2016 and have embedded fear among citizens who criticize the government.
