Vice President Sara Duterte said in the 100 days since taking office, she has accomplished a number of “historic firsts.”

She said these firsts “would not only significantly change the way Filipinos look at the Office of the Vice President — but most importantly — would strengthen its mandate and enable the Office to serve more and more Filipinos across the country.”

In a 14-minute video report that was released in time for Duterte’s first 100 days in office, she said satellite offices for the Office of the Vice Philippines (OVP) had been set up for the first time in vital regions all across the Philippines.

The opening of the Disaster Operations Center and the proposed permanent house for the Philippines’ future vice presidents were both firsts.

She stressed that these choices were made in order to improve the OVP’s mission and guarantee that it “will never leave any sector behind.”

“The watershed decisions that we have initiated, the reforms on the pipeline, the expansion of the existing social services programs, the implementation of programs aimed at addressing lack of livelihood and recovery from disasters and armed conflicts — these all bring us to an Office of the Vice President that will never leave any sector behind,” Duterte said.

Duterte, who is also the Secretary of Education, added that she appreciated the challenges that came with taking office. She didn’t provide any specifics, but Duterte did emphasize that she was ready for these difficulties.

“My first 100 days as Vice President had been marked by many challenges I had prepared myself for, given my long experience in government service and politics,” Duterte said.

She admitted that difficulties are a natural part of the work since they put one’s willpower, tenacity, and commitment to public service to the test.

They might even knock you off course when they test your anchor. Due to these difficulties, you could occasionally lose sight of what you aim to do, according to Duterte.

“As a public servant, I am no longer surprised by these challenges. Instead, I look at them as opportunities as they open windows for us to — with a great sense of urgency — study, assess, and address conditions that we need to overcome to move along,” she said.

According to the OVP, since she assumed office, Duterte has travelled to 20 cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and went to the islands of Limasawa in Southern Leyte, Siquijor, and Guimaras in order to provide her office’s services.

The OVP would be delivering more in the upcoming days, it said.

“And in the coming days, there will be more challenges ahead — challenges that we hope to turn into opportunities to be able to serve you and the country better,” Duterte promised.

“We are just starting,” she continued.
