Ten farmers’ associations in the province of Zamboanga del Norte received on Friday PHP1.3 million worth of farm machinery and equipment through the corn program of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Lorie Lee Estrevillo, DA regional corn coordinator, said the assistance given to the farmers aims to increase corn and cassava production in Zamboanga del Norte.
Estrevillo said the recipients received two cassava chippers, two cassava graters with presser, five collapsible dryers, and three open-source pumps.
She said the recipients are from 10 different towns in the province. She, however, did not give the number of the beneficiaries.
George Vallente, the agricultural provincial coordinator, advised the recipients to put to good use the equipment given to them.
Vallente said he is optimistic the proper use of the equipment would help increase the income of the recipients amid the pandemic. (PNA)
