The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) has supplied the Naga City General Hospital (NCGH) in Camarines Sur province with 12 units of hemodialysis equipment and one water treatment system, to give better and timely treatment for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

In a media release on Thursday, DOH-5 Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio Albornoz said the agency donated medical equipment valued at PHP14.5 million to the hospital on Wednesday.

Albornoz said the new hemodialysis machines will significantly enhance the treatment and management of patients suffering from CKD in the city and nearby areas.a

He added the provision was part of their efforts to respond to the healthcare needs of CKD patients, as well as those at high risk for diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

“This initiative aligns with the principles of the Universal Healthcare Act, which aims to ensure that all Filipinos have equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare,” he said.

Dr. Joseph Sanchez, chief of hospital at the NCGH, thanked the government and underscored their shared commitment to expanding access to primary healthcare.

The hemodialysis equipment represents a critical step toward improving patient outcomes and ensuring timely access to life-saving treatment for residents of Naga City and surrounding areas, he said. (PNA)
