The southwest monsoon or “habagat” continues to dampen many areas in Luzon, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will still prevail over Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan including Cuyo Islands.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over extreme northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) that PAGASA has been monitoring was last spotted 1,015 km. east of Central Luzon.

“The LPA has a slim chance to develop into a tropical cyclone within 24 to 48 hours. It continues to move away from the landmass, and heads to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility,” PAGASA forecaster Grace Castañeda said. (PNA)
