Former Bayan Muna Representative Neri Colmenares officially filed today his certificate of candidacy for Senator in the May 2022 national elections 

This is the third time that Colmenares, a human rights activist and lawyer, will vie for the elusive senatorial spot having lost both the 2019 and 2016 elections 

In his candidacy announcement, Colmenares said he will be the harshest critic of President Duterte’s candidates for the 2022 elections. The senatorial aspirant is known to be one of the most outspoken critics of the current administration.

As a human rights lawyer, Colmenares said that he will expose all the lies of the President, even legally representing the bereaved families of the victims of the administration’s war on drugs.

The senatorial candidate said his major concerns include the regularization of contractual workers, agrarian reform for farmers, higher aid for senior citizens, the West Philippine Sea, and youth concerns.

Colmenares is seeking the senatorial seat under the banner of the Makabayan bloc, the same party he was within his two failed senatorial bids.
