Maraming Pilipino ang nakinabang sa mga fuel subsidy ng gobyerno at Libreng Sakay program, na ipinatupad upang mabawasan ang epekto ng pagtaas ng presyo ng langis sa mga commuter at industriya ng transportasyon, ayon sa Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).

Sa isang news release, sinabi nitong suportado ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ang agarang pagpapalabas ng pondo para mapanatili ang patuloy na operasyon ng Libreng Sakay Program ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at ang fuel subsidy program para sa mga public utility vehicles.

“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also directed the DOTr to continue the implementation of the Libreng Sakay for Students Program in LRT-2, which benefitted an estimated 1.6 million students from August 22 to November 5 this year,” dagdag ng OPS.

Saad din nito na 143,290 estudyante ang nakatanggap ng 20% ​​bawas sa pamasahe sa pamamagitan ng Oplan Balik Eskwela program ng MRT-3 at Philippine National Railways (PNR).

Binigyan din ng Service Contracting Program ng gobyerno ang mga operator at driver na nalagay sa alanganin ang trabaho dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic at pagtaas ng presyo ng langis.

“From April to July 2022, 19,194 PUV drivers were contracted to operate 16,832 PUV units on 921 routes across the country, the report said, adding that as of December 23, 2022, the EDSA Busway is being serviced by 751 Public Utility Bus units operated by 87 companies,” ayon sa OPS.
