The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) launched two checklist instruments to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) improve their disaster preparedness initiatives.

The “Disaster Risk and Disaster Preparedness Needs Assessment Tool” and the “Business Continuity Capability Assessment Tool” of the Philippine Preparedness Partnership (Philprep) will help MSME owners evaluate their preparedness for different disasters, including the effectiveness of their continuity plans.

“MSMEs provide a livelihood for many of our fellow Filipinos. We need to help them recover from the Covid-19 pandemic,” PDRF President  Butch Meily stated.

These tools would also help MSMEs measure their knowledge, skills, and resources preceding various disaster risks.

The launch of the two digital tools coincided with the MSME day, which commemorates resilience and rebuilding through the Covid-19 pandemic, conflicts, and climate crisis.

The tools were developed by the Social Development Research Center of De La Salle University-Manila, and are now accessible to the general public.
